Millions of ventilators and ICUs unused
DAILEKH: FRIDAY, MAY 14, 2021 – ICU and ventilator connections were made in Dailekh last year when the rate of Corona infection intensified. Millions were spent on three ICUs and two ventilators. Chief of the Health Service Office, Dr. Niranjan Pant, said that he was happy to have a ventilator, but after his transfer, the Health Service Office has not been able to operate the ventilator and ICU room. The devices that have been connected at a cost of millions are just as tired.
Patients with a high risk of Corona disease can be treated with ICU and ventilator survival, but patients with respiratory problems are now being treated with normal oxygen. Serious patients die every day without effective treatment. On Tuesday alone, a woman died due to lack of oxygen.
At least 16 people have died of Corona infection in Dailekh so far. Chief of the Health Service Office, Dailekh, Theer Prasad Regmi said that most of the patients are in critical condition due to respiratory problems. ‘We have been treating with only a few of the oxygen we have, but there have been a lot of problems to save. Even with a ventilator, it is stalled due to lack of skilled manpower. We have demanded manpower, but it has not been managed, ”he said.
Chief District Officer Hari Pyakurel said that the demand for manpower had not been heard even after repeated decisions from the District Covid Management Committee meeting two years ago. All the three MPs Rabindra Sharma, Raj Bahadur Budha and Parvati Bishunke said that they would immediately discuss the matter with the Ministry of Health and send skilled manpower to the district. – RSS
