Qatar’s Emir met with PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday as part of his two-day state visit to Nepal.

Arriving in Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon, the Qatar Emir initiated his official visit to Nepal.

Prime Minister Dahal’s secretariat has informed that the meeting between Prime Minister Dahal and Emir is continuing at Hotel Soaltee.

After the talks, bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding will be signed in their presence.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks between the Qatari Emir and the bilateral delegation led by Prime Minister Prachanda will discuss the overall aspects of Nepal-Qatar relations as well as regional and international issues.

Among these agreements is Nepal’s preparation to finalize a new labor pact with Qatar, recognizing it as a significant destination for Nepali migrant workers.

Currently, there are roughly 370,000 Nepali workers engaged in Qatar.

Prime Minister Dahal will host a luncheon at Hotel Dwarika in honor of the Qatari Emir.

Emir Al Thani’s visit to Nepal, at the request of President Ram Chandra Paudel, demonstrates the two countries’ growing bilateral relationship.
