Shekhar Koirala: Nepali Congress must win Ilam-2 by-election to assert strength

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala emphasized the necessity of securing victory in the Ilam-2 by-election.

He stressed that winning is crucial for the Congress to demonstrate its strength and ability to contest elections independently.

“The notion that Congress is weak is an external perception, which concerns both the nation and democratic factions abroad,” Koirala expressed. “It is imperative to boost everyone’s morale. This by-election is about maintaining the prestige.”

Koirala indicated that this by-election will determine the future of the Congress, urging unity within the party and setting aside internal conflicts.

He provided guidance to all levels within the party, stressing the importance of participating cohesively in the election.

Despite the enthusiasm of many aspirants for campaign positions in Ilam, Koirala underscored that only one ticket will be issued, aiming to prevent discontent among other aspiring leaders.

Koirala also mentioned that this by-election has garnered attention internationally, with every Congress member feeling the responsibility to contribute.

He affirmed that he himself is a candidate and directed everyone to actively participate in the election.
