UML Vice-Chair Shakya praises competence of women representatives
She emphasized that ensuring women’s leadership is essential for building a prosperous Nepal and urged the media to play a stronger role in promoting women’s advancement.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Vice-Chair Astalaxmi Shakya has said that women representatives at the local level have proven themselves capable and effective.
Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Tuesday focused on inspiring women representatives, Shakya noted that although there is no established system for evaluating local representatives, women leaders have demonstrated courage, determination, and visionary thinking in driving development at the grassroots.
She emphasized that ensuring women’s leadership is essential for building a prosperous Nepal and urged the media to play a stronger role in promoting women’s advancement.
Shakya, who shared that she is gradually moving toward retirement from active politics, expressed confidence that women are fully capable of moving forward in leadership roles.
She also stressed that women’s leadership is vital for creating a society free from discrimination.
