UML to hold statute convention with 4 key agendas from Sept 5

The convention will feature presentations on the political report, organizational report, statute amendment proposal, and reports from four advisory councils and three commissions.

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML is set to hold its Second Statute Convention from Sept 5-7 at the Sunrise International Convention Center in Godavari, Lalitpur, where four major agendas will be tabled for discussion.

According to UML’s Central Publicity Department Chief and Standing Committee Member Rajendra Gautam, the convention will feature presentations on the political report, organizational report, statute amendment proposal, and reports from four advisory councils and three commissions.

Party Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will present the political report, while Vice Chair and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel will table the statute amendment proposal. General Secretary Shankar Pokharel will present the organizational report.

Additionally, the heads of the party’s central bodies will present their respective reports: Keshav Badal from the Central Disciplinary Commission, Dr. Pushpa Kandel from the Audit Commission, Dr. Bijay Subba from the Election Commission, and Amrit Kumar Bohora from the Advisory Council.

UML has already finalized the draft of the statute amendment proposal through discussions within the Secretariat, Politburo, and Central Committee.

The draft has been sent to subordinate committees across the country for feedback. Based on the suggestions received, the committee led by Vice Chair Paudel will finalize the proposal.

To oversee publicity for the event, a publicity subcommittee has been formed under the coordination of Rajendra Gautam.

Other members include Ganesh Basnet, Ganesh Pande, Shridhar Acharya, Chetan Adhikari, Deepak Gyawali, and Bishwamani Subedi.
