UML open to limited seat adjustments in election: Gurung
Speaking at a public programme on Tuesday, Gurung asserted that the UML would emerge as the country’s leading party based on its policies and vision for nation-building.
KATHMANDU: Vice-Chair of the CPN-UML, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that while political parties are largely preparing to contest the upcoming House of Representatives election independently, seat adjustments may be possible in certain constituencies.
Speaking at a public programme on Tuesday, Gurung asserted that the UML would emerge as the country’s leading party based on its policies and vision for nation-building.
Responding to journalists’ queries about reported discussions on electoral coordination between UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and CPN Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Gurung clarified that the UML has not made any formal decision on alliance-building so far.
However, he noted that dialogue and discussion are inherent to politics, and all possibilities remain open.
He also made it clear that electoral coordination with the CPN would not be possible unless there is a shared perspective on the events of Bhadra 23 and 24 (Sept 8 & 9), indicating unresolved political differences between the two parties.
Gurung further informed that the UML is preparing to unveil a concise and action-oriented election manifesto soon, focusing on practical reforms and governance improvements.
