KATHMANDU: CPN-UML MP Laxmi Mahato Koiri’s suspension has been lifted.

Koiri’s suspension was lifted by the Parliament Secretariat on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, MP Koiri petitioned the Parliament Secretariat to have the suspension lifted. Padma Prasad Pandey, Acting Secretary General of the Parliament Secretariat, made a statement in which he said that MP Koiri’s suspension had been lifted

During the Madhesh revolution, Koiri was accused of killing SP Thaman BK of the armed police.

He was removed from parliament when a court sentenced him to jail for criminal offenses.

Koiri was acquitted by District Court Mahottari on Mangsir 28 (Dec 14).

Koiri applied for the suspension to be lifted after being acquitted by the court, according to sub-rule (5) of rule 248 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079, according to the Parliament Secretariat.
