UAE sets a target of 161 for Afghanistan

KATHMANDU: In Monday’s first match of the T20 World Cup today, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) put Afghanistan under pressure by posting 160/9 in 20 overs at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

After losing the toss, UAE batted first, with Shoaib Khan leading the charge with a brilliant 68 off 48 balls, including six fours and four sixes.

Alishan Sharafu added 40 runs, while Haider Ali and Syed Haider contributed 13 runs each.

For Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai picked up four wickets, Mujib Ur Rahman took two, and Rashid Khan claimed one.

Having lost their first two matches and remaining without points, Afghanistan will need a win to stay in contention.

UAE, meanwhile, earned their first win and 2 points in the tournament.
