Traffic police recover Rs 68,000 stolen from intoxicated man

KATHMANDU: Traffic police have arrested a pickpocket who stole Rs 68,000 from a man found unconscious on the roadside after consuming alcohol and have returned the recovered cash to the victim’s family.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening on the footpath of the Khadkule road section near Kalanki.

Vijay Nagarkoti, who had passed out after drinking alcohol, was targeted by a thief who stole the cash from his pocket.

Police constable Krishna Bir Thyait noticed the act and immediately chased and apprehended the suspect on the spot. The stolen amount was recovered from the accused.

According to Naresh Raj Subedi, Information Officer at the Valley Traffic Police Office, Baggi Khana, the recovered money was handed over to Nagarkoti’s relatives on Wednesday.

Subedi added that further investigation into the incident is underway, and the accused has been handed over to the Kalanki Police Post for additional legal action.
