This win strengthens South Africa’s position in Group 1 of the Super 8 stage, which includes India, West Indies, and Zimbabwe.
KATHMANDU: South Africa secured a commanding 76-run victory over India in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Sunday at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Batting first in Ahmedabad on Sunday night, South Africa posted a competitive total of 188 for 7.
Despite a shaky start, the middle order steadied the innings with a 97-run partnership for the fourth wicket, and the late surge propelled the team to a formidable score.
India’s chase faltered early as the top order collapsed under pressure.
Despite some resistance from the lower order, the hosts were bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs.
South Africa’s pacers and spinners shared the wickets, with the bowling attack dominating at crucial stages.
This win gives South Africa a strong start in Super-8 Group stages, where India will also face Zimbabwe and West Indies.
