KATHMANDU: In the opening match of Saturday’s Nepal Premier League (NPL), Sudurpashchim Royals posted a total of 147/6 in 20 overs, setting a target of 148 runs for Biratnagar Kings.

The game, played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, saw Sudurpashchim bat first after losing the toss.

For the Royals, Aarif Sheikh top-scored with an unbeaten 45, hitting one boundary and three sixes.

Ishan Pandey contributed 38 runs off 35 balls, while Josh Brown added 24 runs from 25 deliveries.

On the bowling front, Biratnagar Kings’ captain Sandeep Lamichhane was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets for just 20 runs in his four-over spell.

He was supported by Pratish GC with two wickets and Basir Ahamad with one.
