Speaker warns MPs over deviating from emergency hour topics

KATHMANDU: Speaker D.P. Aryal has urged members of the House of Representatives to strictly stick to the subject they declare while seeking emergency (urgent) time in parliamentary sessions.

During Monday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Speaker Aryal expressed concern after several lawmakers reportedly raised issues different from the topics they had formally submitted to the Chair for emergency discussion.

“Honorable members, the subject you submit while requesting emergency time must be the same topic you speak on in the House. If you start speaking on unrelated issues, the Speaker may be compelled to withhold time,” he warned.
