Speaker Ghimire opposes interim govt’s house dissolution
Ghimire said that it would have been better to seek solutions through the existing House rather than opting for dissolution.
KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has voiced dissatisfaction with the interim government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.
Speaking briefly to journalists on Thursday after inspecting the damaged structures of the Federal Parliament building, Ghimire said that it would have been better to seek solutions through the existing House rather than opting for dissolution.
He stressed the need to carefully study the objectives of the Gen Z movement and guide the nation forward accordingly.
Expressing sorrow over the losses the country endured during the protests, he underlined the importance of unity and collective efforts to put the nation back on track.
“This movement must be studied thoroughly—what it is and what it seeks to achieve. The situation we are facing is deeply painful. It is our responsibility to rise above it and move forward in the right way. These tragedies should not have happened. There could have been better approaches to address the country’s problems, and perhaps solutions could have been found without dissolving the House of Representatives,” Ghimire said.
He further remarked that the interim government carries a heavy responsibility on its shoulders and expressed his hope that it would successfully fulfill its mandate.
