SC orders police to produce businessman Deepak Bhatt

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered authorities to present businessman Deepak Bhatt before the court, who is currently in police custody.

The order was issued by a single bench of Justice Abdul Aziz Musalman in response to a habeas corpus petition filed by Bhatt’s wife, Ayushma Nepal.

During the hearing, the court also issued a show-cause order, directing the concerned authorities to justify the detention and ensure Bhatt’s appearance before the court.

Bhatt was arrested on April 2 on charges related to money laundering.
