RSP publishes preliminary list of aspirants for Rupandehi-3 by-election

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has released the preliminary list of individuals aspiring to contest in the upcoming by-election for Rupandehi Constituency-3.

A total of nine candidates have submitted their applications for consideration.

The final candidate will be selected through the party’s transparent selection process and a primary election.

On Thursday, the party live-streamed the announcement of the preliminary names via its official Facebook page.

The nine applicants are:

• Shulav Kharel

• Pathwendra Upadhyay

• Dr. Lekhjung Thapa

• Gyanu Poudel

• Jit Bahadur Gupta

• Kushum Maharjan

• Rachana Kshetri

• Poonam Kumari Agrawal

• Madhu Prasad Aryal

Transparent & Democratic Selection Process

According to Bipin Acharya, the party’s Rupandehi election in-charge, the RSP has outlined a systematic and democratic process to finalize the candidate. The timeline is as follows:

• Shrawan 7–21: Application submission period

• Friday 10 AM – Saturday 5 PM: Submission of any complaints, claims, or objections regarding the applicants to the party’s Central Election Commission

• Shrawan 25: Official discussion with all applicants

• Shrawan 26: Publication of the preliminary candidate list

• Shrawan 26 – Bhadra 11: Evaluation of candidates as per party procedures

• Bhadra 12: Final selection through a primary election conducted from morning until 5 PM

The RSP has emphasized that the selection process will prioritize transparency, inclusivity, and internal democracy, ensuring that the most deserving candidate is chosen to represent the party in Rupandehi-3.
