KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP, Sobita Gautam, has accused the winter session of Parliament of being controlling.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament on Tuesday, Gautam expressed that the session had been challenging and controlling in nature, according to the views of the RSP.
She mentioned that some legislative processes felt slightly rushed, which she believed was not in line with parliamentary practices. Specifically, she felt that the suspension process of RSP chairman Rabi Lamichhane seemed overly controlling.
She stated, “This session, from our perspective, has been extremely challenging. We felt that some legislative processes moved forward a bit too quickly, which isn’t typical in parliamentary procedures. Otherwise, many issues were presented in a controlling manner.
Regarding the suspension of our party’s chairman, Rabi Lamichhane, we felt a sense of control in that process. Therefore, we feel that this session of Parliament has been quite challenging and controlling from the perspective of parliamentary practice.”
Additionally, she raised concerns about the tendency to view all issues through a political lens in Nepal.
