Mahakali riverbank area residents urged to adopt precautions
The District Administration Office, Darchula, had already issued a notice on Wednesday, cautioning people residing along the riverbank areas.
KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Kanchanpur has urged the residents of riverbank areas to adopt precaution measures in view of possible rise in water current in the Mahakali River.
Issuing a notice, the district administration said that the Dhauliganga Hydropower Project in India is removing sand, soil, mud, and debris piled up in the dam from 6.00 am Friday to 5.00 pm Saturday, so people are asked to remain aware of possible rise in water level in the Mahakali River.
Since there has been correspondence from the Indian side regarding the opening of the dam gate, people are being asked to take precautions in advance during the specified time, Assistant Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur, Mohan Chandra Joshi stated.
The District Administration Office, Darchula, had already issued a notice on Wednesday, cautioning people residing along the riverbank areas.
In a public notice, the Assistant Chief District Officer of Darchula called for residents along the riverbank areas to take necessary precautions.
