The problems began in the 24th minute when defender Éder Militão was forced off due to a hamstring injury, weakening Madrid’s defense.

Celta Vigo took the lead three minutes into the second half, with Williot Swedberg converting a cross from Brais Sarabia. Real’s troubles worsened when Fran García received two yellow cards in quick succession, leaving Madrid a man short in the 61st and 62nd minutes.
The situation turned dire in injury time when Álvaro Carreras was shown a red card for protesting a referee decision, reducing Real to nine players.
In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Swedberg scored his second from a through ball by Iago Aspas, sealing the 2-0 victory.
With this defeat, Real Madrid now trails Barcelona by four points, while Celta Vigo climbs to 10th place with 19 points.
