Raphinha double sends Barcelona seven points clear

KATHMANDU: Barcelona tightened their grip on the Spanish La Liga title race with a comfortable 2–0 victory over Osasuna on Saturday, thanks to a late double from Brazilian winger Raphinha.

After a goalless first half, Raphinha broke the deadlock in the 70th minute before sealing the result with his second goal in the 86th minute.

The brace ensured Barcelona collected all three points and extended their lead at the top of the table.

With the win, Barcelona moved to 43 points from 17 matches.

Defending champions Real Madrid remain second with 36 points, having played one game fewer than the league leaders.

In other matches, Atlético Madrid edged past Valencia 2–1 to climb to fourth place with 34 points.

Espanyol also secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Getafe, while Real Mallorca defeated Elche 3–1 in another league encounter.

Following their win, Espanyol sit on 30 points and remain firmly in contention in the upper half of the table as the La Liga season continues to gather pace.
