KATHMANDU: Entrepreneur Ramchandra Sangai has confirmed his candidacy for the position of Senior Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). After extensive consultations and discussions with entrepreneurs, business leaders, and former FNCCI presidents across the country, Sangai decided to run for the post.
Sangai has been actively involved with FNCCI for the past 22 years and previously served as the federation’s Vice President. He has worked under several leaderships, including that of Rabibhakta Shrestha and Shekhar Golchha, where he held positions such as Associate Vice President and Chairperson of the Employers’ Council.
Currently serving as a director of Triveni Group, Sangai stated that he is running for Senior Vice President with a firm commitment to protect and promote the interests of entrepreneurs and businesses. Triveni Group operates dozens of industrial ventures across manufacturing, service, and agriculture sectors, employing around 18,000 families. Sangai is also actively involved in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and emphasized his deep understanding of the challenges faced by SMEs, pledging to work toward solutions.
Sangai highlighted the need for FNCCI leadership capable of understanding business challenges, creating employment, boosting production, and effectively advocating private sector concerns to the government. He stressed that a close partnership between the new government and the private sector is essential, and called for concrete policy reforms to strengthen this collaboration.
He further praised government initiatives aimed at improving the investment environment, protecting private sector interests, and promoting industries, noting that these efforts have encouraged the business community. Sangai also welcomed the assurances given to the private sector by the ruling party’s leader during the first parliamentary address, expressing optimism that if the new government works in line with public trust, the next five years could mark a golden era for Nepal.
The FNCCI’s 60th Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Chaitra 29 and 30 in Kathmandu, where the elected executive committee will select the Senior Vice President.
