Rajan Bhattarai vows good governance in Kathmandu-4 race
Bhattarai said development is impossible without controlling corruption, ensuring transparent budget implementation, and guaranteeing accountability.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML candidate Dr. Rajan Bhattarai has announced that good governance will be his top priority in the upcoming parliamentary elections from Kathmandu Constituency No. 4.
Speaking at a press meet on Thursday, Dr. Bhattarai said development is impossible without controlling corruption, ensuring transparent budget implementation, and guaranteeing accountability.
He accused political instability and continuous obstruction of hindering development efforts in the constituency.
“Development is not possible without good governance. Projects are initiated but remain incomplete — the root cause is political instability and obstruction,” he said.
Dr. Bhattarai pledged to prioritize and swiftly complete unfinished projects related to roads, drainage, drinking water, and urban management. He argued that the constituency has lagged behind due to the discontinuation of previously launched development initiatives.
Targeting opposition parties, he urged them to move beyond obstruction and criticism-driven politics. “People want results, not slogans,” he added.
He further stated that long-term plans would be introduced to promote youth employment, entrepreneurship, and systematic urbanization.
Presenting the upcoming election as an opportunity to choose development and stability, Dr. Bhattarai is contesting for the third time.
He was previously defeated by Nepali Congress leader Gagan Kumar Thapa in the 2074 and 2079 general elections.
In the current race, he faces competition from Nepali Congress candidate Sachin Timilsina, Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Pukar Bam, and others.
