KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) senior vice-president and writer Rabindra Mishra is set to launch his latest poetry collection “Maathiko Aadesh Cha” (roughly translated ‘Order from Above’) on Bhadra 28.

The book features poems written during his 50-day detention, which Mishra described as a period of “compulsory intimacy with confinement.” “These poems are the voices, emotions, and cries of the ‘self’ in custody,” Mishra said.

Reflecting on the process, Mishra revealed that 35 poems came to him during that time. “It is common for poetic thoughts to emerge in the mind, but it is rare for those thoughts to take the form of complete poems. In custody, ideas constantly flowed, and I was able to transform them into poetry. In fact, some days I even wrote two poems in a single day,” he noted.

This is Mishra’s second poetry collection. His first book, “Rabindra Mishraka Kavita,” was published in 2014 (2071 B.S.).

Renowned poet and Madan Puraskar winner Navaraj Lamsal, who reviewed the manuscript, remarked: “Rabindra Mishra is not writing poems because he is a poet; rather, poetry itself has compelled him to write. There is a powerful and unbroken poetic flow, with a profound inclination toward spirituality beautifully expressed.”

Similarly, Padmashree Sahitya Award-winning poet Nawaraj Parajuli praised Mishra’s work, saying: “Without relying on his public image as a journalist, philanthropist, or politician, Rabindra Mishra stands as a complete poet in this collection. His honesty flows throughout, blossoming into beauty within the poems.”

The collection is being published by FinePrint.
