Proposed CJ Sharma denies pressure on SC over writ registration
Sharma said the decision to register or reject a complaint lies solely with the court administration, based on the nature of the petition.
KATHMANDU: Proposed Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma has clarified that he did not exert any pressure to prevent the registration of a writ petition filed against his nomination in the Supreme Court.
Speaking before the parliamentary hearing committee on Tuesday, Sharma said the decision to register or reject a complaint lies solely with the court administration, based on the nature of the petition.
He dismissed media reports alleging his interference, calling them false and misleading.
“The decision to register or reject a complaint is made by the judicial administration after examining its nature. The judicial administration is independent in this regard. The media reports claiming that I stopped the registration of a complaint against me are completely false. I have no further comment on this,” he said.
Sharma also clarified that there is no conflict between the Bar and the Bench, responding to lawmakers who questioned how he would manage tensions between the legal fraternity and the judiciary.
