Pranay Shumsher Rana quits RSP, slams leadership for ‘irregularities’
Rana accused the RSP of straying completely from the values, principles, and roadmap established during its formation.
KATHMANDU: Leader Pranay Shumsher Rana has resigned from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), raising serious concerns about the party’s leadership.
He stepped down from all responsibilities, including his general membership.
In his resignation letter addressed to the party’s General Secretary, Rana accused the RSP of straying completely from the values, principles, and roadmap established during its formation.
He said that despite advocating for internal democracy, good governance, and financial transparency over the party’s three-and-a-half-year journey, the leadership consistently ignored these efforts.
Rana sharply criticized that the party’s original promise to “end irregularities and initiate proper governance” has now turned into “end proper governance and initiate irregularities.” He added that most central leaders and members are either complicit in these irregularities or remain strangely silent.
Acknowledging that politics is never without challenges, Rana questioned how citizens could trust a party that institutionalizes irregularities under the pretext of “special circumstances.”
He stated, “I cannot believe that a party that cannot manage its internal affairs properly will perform excellently in government, nor am I willing to practice blind loyalty.”
