KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held a meeting with Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, General Secretary of the CPN, at Biplav’s residence in Harisiddhi on Monday morning.

The discussion aimed to advance the ongoing party unification process.

According to Prachanda’s secretariat, the meeting lasted over half an hour, focusing on the current political situation and prospects for unity between the two parties.

Observers suggest that the dialogue signals renewed momentum in efforts to bring together factions that split from the original Maoist movement.

Earlier, the Maoist Centre’s Standing Cmmittee meeting held from Shrawan 16–19 had decided to form a committee to push forward the unification process with Biplav-led NCPN.

Acting on this decision, Prachanda personally visited Biplav to initiate discussions.

While the Maoist Centre has already resolved to pursue unity with the CPN, the task force for implementation is yet to be formed.

The CPN is reportedly preparing to take concrete decisions on unity at its Central Committee meeting scheduled for Bhadra 22.

Prachanda has recently emphasized the need to consolidate all strands of the Maoist movement.

The meeting is said to have included strategic discussions on unification and is expected to play a key role in bringing scattered former Maoist factions together to strengthen the communist center.
