Prime Minister Shah said the government fully understands the urgency of the current situation and the heavy responsibility entrusted to it.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balen Shah has said that his government is firmly committed to improving the real and visible living standards of Nepali citizens.
Speaking at a joint meeting held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Kathmandu with ambassadors from the European Union (EU) based in Kathmandu and New Delhi, as well as other foreign envoys stationed in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Shah said the government fully understands the urgency of the current situation and the heavy responsibility entrusted to it.

According to the Prime Minister’s Press and Research Advisor Diipa Dahal, Shah emphasized during the meeting that the recently concluded elections in Nepal have given a clear and decisive mandate for good governance and inclusive economic prosperity. He also clarified that although a new government has been formed, policy continuity will be maintained.
“Naturally, being new does not mean being completely detached from the past. We are committed to ensuring that Nepal’s policy direction remains clear, stable and predictable, while also safeguarding democratic values and maintaining political stability,” the Prime Minister said.
He further stated that his government is committed to good governance and inclusive economic growth. Shah highlighted that Nepal aims to benefit from the global market, attract greater investment by making procedures more efficient, encourage innovation, and achieve sustainable development.

Prime Minister Shah also reaffirmed that Nepal will continue to pursue a balanced and pragmatic foreign policy. “Our relations with neighbors, development partners, and friendly nations are guided by the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality, and shared prosperity,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to development partners for their continuous goodwill and support, he noted Nepal’s ongoing commitment to strengthening cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, green energy, climate change, tourism, and other priority areas.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah also stressed that amid ongoing conflicts in different parts of the world, civilians suffer the most, and therefore priority must be given to dialogue, diplomacy, and international law over military confrontation to ensure peace.

Ambassadors from the EU and other countries praised Nepal for successfully conducting elections in a peaceful manner. They also congratulated Prime Minister Shah on leading a government formed with a mandate for good governance, economic development, and prosperity.
They expressed readiness to expand cooperation and investment with Nepal across various sectors to support economic growth and development.
