PM Oli returning home today, departs for Dubai

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who led the Nepalese delegation to the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) held in Turkmenistan, is set to return home today.

Nepal currently holds the chairmanship of the LLDC group.

The conference took place from Shrawan 20 to 23 in Avaza, a prominent tourist city in Turkmenistan.

As the chair of the LLDC group, Prime Minister Oli highlighted the shared challenges and development agendas of landlocked developing countries on the international stage.

He also addressed the conference in his capacity as Chairperson of the Global Coordination Bureau of the LLDCs.

During the event, Prime Minister Oli held bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from various countries, senior United Nations officials, and representatives from other international organizations to discuss mutual interests and cooperation.

The high-level delegation, which departed on the midnight of Shrawan 18, included Prime Minister Oli’s wife Radhika Shakya, Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, UML lawmaker Surya Thapa, Chief Personal Secretary Rajesh Bajracharya, personal physician Prof. Dr. Divya Singh Shah, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amrit Bahadur Rai, along with senior government officials, media personnel, and security staff.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to arrive tonight at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

Before leaving Turkmenistan, the Prime Minister was warmly seen off by the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan at Avaza International Airport at 8:30 AM local time.

He is traveling via Dubai and is expected to arrive in Nepal at 11:05 PM tonight.
