KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has dismissed the ongoing debate surrounding former President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s party membership as unnecessary and irrelevant to the party’s ongoing statute convention.

Addressing the second Statute Convention of the party held at Sunrise Hall in Godawari, Lalitpur on Friday, Prime Minister Oli clarified that the issue does not fall within the scope of the convention’s agenda.

He stated that any discussion regarding Bhandari’s involvement in the party should take place within the appropriate committee forums.

“This matter is not related to the Statute Convention and therefore cannot be discussed here. It is a subject for internal committee-level deliberation,” Oli asserted. “Some issues are being unnecessarily pushed into the convention’s agenda. But we cannot consider such matters part of the statute debate.”

Oli stressed that the Statute Convention is solely focused on party statutes and organizational matters, and that all discussions would remain centered on that.

During the convention, Chairperson Oli is scheduled to present the political report, while Vice Chairperson and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel will table the statute amendment proposal.

Party General Secretary Shankar Pokharel will present the organizational report.

Oli emphasized that discussions will be conducted in alignment with the official agenda, steering clear of unrelated controversies.
