PM Oli: Courts can influence dismissals, appointments
Oli stated that since the prime minister is elected by parliament, courts should not interfere in such matters.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has remarked that courts, at times, have the power to influence both the dismissal and appointment of the prime minister.
Speaking at the 19th National Information Day organized by the National Information Commission on Tuesday, Oli stated that since the prime minister is elected by parliament, courts should not interfere in such matters.
He added that his comments stem from personal experience, noting that courts sometimes issue rulings based on their interpretation of the constitution. “The court, as the interpreter of the constitution, may issue decisions favoring certain interpretations. I am sharing my experience, not issuing ultimatums,” he clarified.
Oli also highlighted that Nepal is progressing from a full democracy toward a more perfected democratic system.
