PM Oli & Brazilian football legend Carlos met
The 52-year-old football legend represented Brazil from 1992 to 2006 and played a key role in the nation’s 2002 FIFA World Cup victory.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos met on Wednesday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu.
Carlos, who arrived in Nepal on Tuesday, is in the country to attend the third season of the Nepal Super League (NSL).
During the meeting, he and PM Oli discussed ways to promote and develop the sports sector in Nepal.
The 52-year-old football icon, best known for his powerful free kicks and explosive runs, represented Brazil from 1992 to 2006 and was instrumental in the country’s triumph at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Carlos’s visit to Nepal was initially scheduled for an earlier date but was delayed due to health concerns.
Welcoming Carlos, Prime Minister Oli expressed that his visit would serve as a great source of inspiration for Nepali athletes and youth.
He emphasized the long-standing diplomatic ties between Nepal and Brazil and stressed the need for mutual learning and exchange in the field of sports.
Oli also invited Carlos to return to Nepal in the future for experiences such as mountain flights and jungle safaris.
Carlos expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and said he was delighted to meet Nepal’s Prime Minister, youth, and athletes.
