KATHMANDU: Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has said that Prime Minister’s current priority is fully centered on improving government performance and implementing ongoing work plans, with no immediate plans for foreign visits.

Speaking to journalists, Minister Pokharel clarified that due to the busy schedule of the government’s first 100 days, the Prime Minister is not preparing for any international trips, including a possible visit to India.

Responding to recent public discussions linking a potential India visit with foreign travel plans of political leaders, he said the Prime Minister is “not preparing to visit any country at this stage,” emphasizing a strong focus on the initial 100-day action plan and set targets.

He also noted that any foreign visit by Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), would be purely personal or party-related and has no connection with the Prime Minister.

On the budget preparation process, the minister said the Ministry of Finance is accelerating its work. Most ministries have already submitted their plans and programs, and the budget formulation process is progressing in an organized manner.

Regarding tightened entry regulations at Singha Durbar, he described the move as part of a management reform to make access more systematic and convenient for both the public and government staff, rather than a restriction.

On the upcoming Republic Day address, he said there has been no formal discussion in the Cabinet about the Prime Minister’s speech, adding that any address would be made based on necessity and appropriate timing.
