KATHMANDU: A corruption case has been filed against Manoj Kumar, chairperson of Chhipaharmai Rural Municipality in Birgunj, Parsa, along with four others.

The Special Court in Kathmandu registered the case today.

According to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the accused include Rural Municipality Chairperson Manoj Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer Sikindra Prasad Sah, Accountant Sanjay Patel, and Kamal Upadhyay, director of K.S. Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd., Birgunj.

The allegations state that the officials published a false notice for a tender in the Saurya Daily on 19 Falgun 2079 to conceal information.

Following this, a payment of Rs 195,490 was made to K.S. Multipurpose Pvt. Ltd., Birgunj, totaling Rs 419,490.

The accused have been charged, and punishment has been sought.
