KATHMANDU: The parliamentary hearing of proposed Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma is underway.

Sharma appeared before the parliamentary hearing committee on Tuesday at Singha Durbar after complaints filed against him were reviewed.

During the hearing, Nepali Congress MP Anand Dhungana questioned how he would manage the long-standing conflict between the judiciary and the legal bar, noting that tensions between the bench and the bar have been affecting the delivery of justice.

He remarked that despite previous chief justices attempting to ease the dispute, the situation appears to have worsened again. “If this conflict increases, accessing justice becomes difficult,” he said, urging for effective resolution.

Dhungana also sought Sharma’s views on making the judiciary more development-friendly.
