Pariyar opposes Gurung’s reappointment, demands report publication
Pariyar alleged that Gurung was reinstated without making public the findings of an asset investigation commission and without informing parliament or the public.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress National Assembly Chief Whip Padam Bahadur Pariyar has strongly objected to the reappointment of Sudhan Gurung as Home Minister, calling the move “objectionable” and politically questionable.
Speaking during Monday’s “special time” in the National Assembly, Pariyar alleged that Gurung was reinstated without making public the findings of an asset investigation commission and without informing parliament or the public.
He accused the government of acting through a “suspicious political setting” and demanded immediate disclosure of the commission’s report.
“Including the failure to make public the asset investigation report of former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and without informing the House and citizens, his reinstatement through questionable political arrangements is highly condemnable. We strongly demand the immediate release of the report,” Pariyar said.
He also pressed the government to publish the report of the National Human Rights Commission, saying delays in releasing such documents have no justification and transparency must be ensured.
