KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has taken action against 2,029 drivers for violating traffic rules over the past 24 hours, collecting Rs 417,000 in revenue for the state treasury.
According to traffic police, 59 drivers were booked for drunk driving, while 119 were penalized for operating illegal ride-sharing services.
Similarly, 132 motorists were fined for jumping traffic lights and 208 for overspeeding.
Police also took action against 57 drivers for lane indiscipline, 94 for unnecessary honking in restricted areas, 95 for parking vehicles on sidewalks, and 126 for driving on one-way roads.
In addition, 1,139 motorists faced penalties for various other traffic rule violations, the office said.
