Over 2,000 drivers fined in 24 hours in valley

KATHMANDU: In the past 24 hours, a total of 2,055 motorists were penalized for violating traffic rules, generating Rs 221,502 in revenue for the state, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.

Among those fined, 83 were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, 192 were operating ride-sharing services against regulations, 109 violated traffic signals, and 102 were found overspeeding.

Similarly, 146 drivers breached lane discipline, 103 used horns in prohibited zones, 112 parked on sidewalks, 85 drove against one-way rules, and 1,123 were penalized for other traffic violations.
