Over 1,200 Madhesh polling stations marked ‘highly sensitive’

KATHMANDU: Ahead of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, Madhesh Province has classified 1,246 out of 2,160 polling stations as highly sensitive, officials said.

Measures for monitoring and ensuring security are being systematically planned, said police spokesperson Kamal Thapa.
At a press conference in Janakpurdham, authorities reported that among the 32 electoral constituencies in the province, 755 polling stations have been designated sensitive while 159 are considered normal.
Madhesh Province has a total of 4,471 polling centers, with 1,028 candidates from various political parties and independents contesting the elections.
The province is home to 3,517,123 registered voters, including 1,905,819 men and 1,611,304 women.
