One last fight: Nepal vs Scotland in final group match
The match will be held at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and will begin at 7:15 PM Nepali time.
KATHMANDU: Nepal will play their final match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in Group C today (Tuesday), facing Scotland in a pride battle after already being knocked out of the tournament.
The match will be held at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and will begin at 7:15 PM Nepali time.
As both teams are already out of the race for the Super 8 stage, the match is expected to be a formality and an opportunity for a positive farewell from the tournament.
Although Nepal started the World Cup with promise, the results did not go their way. In their opening match, Nepal gave a tough fight to Test-playing nation England but narrowly lost by four runs.
However, Nepal failed to maintain momentum in the following games, suffering a heavy 10-wicket defeat against Italy and an eight-wicket loss to West Indies, which ended their Super 8 qualification hopes.
From Group C, England and West Indies have already secured their places in the Super 8. Nepal, along with Scotland and Italy, have been eliminated.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Nepal’s consultant coach Nick Pothas urged the players not to repeat past mistakes. “We want to see strong competition from the players against Scotland and, most importantly, that they don’t repeat the same mistakes again and again. That is the key focus for us,” he said.
Pothas also stressed the importance of consistency in performance. “One good game does not make a great player. Consistency is what truly matters. We want to leave the World Cup with a positive memory for our supporters. A good result against Scotland will also boost the players’ confidence for the upcoming 50-over matches.”
