KATHMANDU: The second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), underway in Kathmandu, features two crucial matches today at the TU International Cricket Ground.

The first match, starting at 11:45 AM, will see Lumbini Lions take on Pokhara Avengers.

Led by Rohit Paudel, Lumbini have won just one of their four matches, while Kushal Bhurtel’s Pokhara have also secured only a single win from three games.

Lumbini sit seventh on the points table, with Pokhara just above them in sixth. Both teams must win today to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The second match at 4:00 PM promises high drama as defending champions Janakpur Bolts face last season’s runners-up, Sudurpashchim Royals.

Winless in their three games, Janakpur sit at the bottom of the table and risk elimination from the playoff race if they fail to secure victory today.

Sudurpashchim, on the other hand, remain unbeaten with four consecutive wins and currently lead the standings.

A win today would confirm their place in the playoffs. The Royals will also be eyeing revenge for their defeat to Janakpur in last season’s final.

With high stakes for all four teams, both matches are expected to be thrilling.
