KATHMANDU: In the highly anticipated match of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) today, Sudurpashchim Royals face Biratnagar Kings.

Winning the toss, Biratnagar captain Sandeep Lamichhane opted to field, sending Sudurpashchim in to bat first.

Sudurpashchim remains the only unbeaten team in this NPL season, having secured six consecutive wins and already booking a spot in Qualifier 1

Last season’s finalists are in top form, with a strong combination of local and foreign players.

Captain Dipendra Singh Airee has impressed with his leadership and performance.

While today’s result will not affect their qualifier spot, the Royals aim to maintain momentum with another win.

For Biratnagar, defeating the unbeaten Royals is crucial to keeping their Qualifier 1 hopes alive.

With 10 points from 7 games, a loss would hand Kathmandu a direct entry, but a win could put Biratnagar on equal points with Kathmandu, leaving net run rate to decide the qualifier spot.

Meanwhile, the performance of former South African captain Faf du Plessis will be under the spotlight after a quiet previous match.

In the day’s second game, Chitwan Rhinos will face Pokhara Avengers, though both teams have already been eliminated from the league stage.
