Nirudevi Pal named as head of KP Oli’s secretariat
She added that the office will eventually be shifted back to the party headquarters once conditions improve.
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has appointed party central committee member Nirudevi Pal as the Chief of his Secretariat, a decision set to be formally endorsed by the party’s Secretariat meeting today.
According to UML central office sources, the meeting is also expected to assign in-charges for the party’s organizational structure across all 8 provinces, 77 districts, 4 non-geographical districts, and various diaspora committees.
The party is preparing to appoint central-level leaders to oversee all 753 local levels, while provincial leaders will fill gaps where central members are unavailable.
Pal has already been working in the role informally for some time and confirmed that the Secretariat is currently operating from the Chairperson’s residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur due to health-related constraints.
She added that the office will eventually be shifted back to the party headquarters once conditions improve.
Former personal secretaries Rajesh Bajracharya and Dipendra Dahal will continue in their roles, focusing on household-level secretarial coordination, while Pal will handle office management, high-level meetings, and political coordination.
Pal, currently serving her second term as a UML central committee member, won the 11th general convention with 1,888 votes in the women’s open category.
She had also contested the 2079 general election from Kanchanpur district.
