NEPSE slips slightly despite strong turnover; mixed sector performance
According to NEPSE, shares of four companies hit the positive circuit limit during today’s trading session.
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a simple decline on Monday, falling by 4.18 points to close at 2,833.60.
A total of 342 companies were traded during the session, with over 20.16 million shares exchanged through 101,180 transactions. The total turnover reached Rs. 8.66 billion, reflecting strong market activity despite the slight dip in the index.
Most major sectors closed in the red. The banking sector declined by 0.47%, development banks by 0.55%, finance by 0.29%, life insurance by 0.46%, microfinance by 0.42%, trading by 0.21%, and others by 1.62%.
However, several sectors posted gains. The hotel and tourism sector rose by 1.02%, hydropower by 0.66%, investment by 0.13%, manufacturing and processing by 0.40%, mutual funds by 0.36%, and non-life insurance by 0.46%.
