KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a marginal decline today, slipping by 2.95 points to close at 2,804.17.

A total of 342 companies were traded during the session.

About 17.58 million shares changed hands through 121,433 transactions, generating a total turnover of Rs 7.81 billion.

Among the sectoral indices, banking rose by 0.13 percent, finance by 0.58 percent, investment by 0.09 percent, manufacturing and processing by 0.25 percent, and non-life insurance by 0.38 percent.

However, most other sectors ended in the red. Development banks declined by 0.27 percent, hotels and tourism by 2.36 percent, hydropower by 0.06 percent, life insurance by 0.25 percent, microfinance by 0.15 percent, mutual funds by 0.40 percent, trade by 1.10 percent, and other groups by 0.03 percent.

Overall, the market saw mixed sectoral performance despite a slight dip in the benchmark index.
