NEPSE falls 13.46 points to close at 2,837.77 amid broad market decline

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined on Thursday, falling by 13.46 points to close at 2,837.77, marking a 0.47 percent drop.

According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, a total of 335 listed companies were traded during the session.

Altogether, 21,087,628 shares changed hands 97,480 times, generating a total turnover of Rs. 8.99 billion.

Despite the overall market decline, the Hydropower sector edged up slightly by 0.08 percent, while the Manufacturing and Processing group rose by 1.59 percent. All other sectoral indices closed in negative territory.

Banking declined by 0.74 percent, Development Bank by 0.67 percent, Finance by 0.60 percent, Hotels and Tourism by 0.44 percent, Investment by 0.12 percent, Life Insurance by 0.71 percent, Microfinance by 0.73 percent, Mutual Fund by 0.49 percent, Non-life Insurance by 0.48 percent, and the Others group dropped by 1.39 percent.

Among individual stocks, Bhujung Hydropower Ltd., Super Khudi Hydropower Ltd., Hotel Forest Inn Ltd., and Palpa Cement Industries Ltd. hit positive circuit breakers.

In contrast, NIC Asia Balanced Fund saw its share price fall by 4.17 percent.
