KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army marked its 263rd Establishment Day with a grand ceremony at Tundikhel, Kathmandu, coinciding with the sacred festival of Maha Shivaratri.

The event was attended by President Ram Chandra Paudel, Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki, and other distinguished officials.

As part of the celebrations, army units showcased a variety of displays, including a march-past, khukuri drills, and demonstrations of combat skills.

Spectators were also enthralled by aerial shows featuring helicopter flower drops and parachute jumps.

Historically, the Nepali Army traces its roots back to 1819 BS when King Prithvi Narayan Shah launched the unification campaign of modern Nepal.

Over the years, the army has earned widespread recognition for its contributions to national security and global peacekeeping efforts.
