Nepal welcomes 70,000+ tourists in July 2025

KATHMANDU: Nepal received a total of 70,193 foreign tourists in July 2025, marking an 8.7% increase compared to the same month last year.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, tourist arrivals in July 2025 have reached 99% of the pre-pandemic level recorded in April 2019, signaling a strong rebound for the tourism sector after the disruptions caused by COVID-19.

Deepkaraj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board, highlighted that these figures demonstrate Nepal’s tourism revival and its re-emergence as a popular global destination.

Among the total arrivals in July, the highest number of tourists came from India, with 27,152 visitors accounting for 38.7% of the total.

China followed with 6,890 tourists (9.8%), the United States with 6,326 (9.4%), Bangladesh with 4,413 (6.3%), and the United Kingdom with 3,547 (5.1%).

A regional breakdown showed that South Asian countries contributed the largest share of tourists, with 33,787 visitors (48.1%).

Other Asian countries accounted for 13,052 tourists (18.6%), Europe 9,292 (13.2%), the Americas 12,775 (11.1%), Oceania 1,807 (2.6%), the Middle East 826 (1.2%), Africa 318 (0.5%), and other regions 3,329 (4.7%).

Joshi attributed the rise in tourist numbers to promotional efforts under the “Visit Nepal Decade” campaign, increased private sector investment, and diverse tourism products that have boosted Nepal’s appeal in recent months.
