KATHMANDU: Nepal has suffered a heavy defeat against Oman in the ICC World Cup League 2 match after rain disrupted play at the Tribhuvan University (TU) ground.
Chasing a revised target of 306 runs under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method, Nepal were restricted to 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 36.5 overs, resulting in a 102-run loss.
Dipendra Singh Airee led Nepal’s batting effort with a solid half-century, scoring 60 runs. Bhim Sharki contributed 28 runs, while Aasif Sheikh made 19.
Aarif Sheikh and Gulshan Jha added 14 runs each. Captain Rohit Paudel was dismissed for 10 runs, whereas Kushal Bhurtel and Basir Ahmad managed just 1 run apiece.
For Oman, Nadeem Khan delivered a strong bowling performance, claiming three wickets. Shakeel Ahmed picked up two wickets, while Wasim Ali and Muhammad Imran took one wicket each.
Despite individual efforts, Nepal failed to build partnerships and fell short as Oman dominated both with bat and ball under challenging weather conditions.
