KATHMANDU: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Nepal Life Insurance Company has launched a groundbreaking insurance plan exclusively for women, named “Nepal Life Women Protection Life Insurance Plan.”
The plan, introduced under the tagline “Multiple Benefits in a Single Plan! Easy Access for Every Woman!”, focuses on women’s life, health, savings, and financial security.
According to the company, the plan offers unique features such as annual cash benefits based on the sum insured, and a step-up death benefit, increasing by 25% every five years.
For the first time in Nepal’s insurance sector, the plan includes supplementary maternity care and pregnancy complication coverage, ensuring women receive comprehensive protection while promoting long-term financial stability.
The Nepal Life Women Protection Life Insurance Plan is designed to empower women by providing security, self-reliance, and assured future financial protection.
It offers regular income, economic security, and long-term financial assurance all in one package, making it a pioneering initiative in Nepal’s insurance market.
“Maternity is one of the most beautiful, important, and sensitive phases of a woman’s life. However, serious health risks can arise during pregnancy,” the company said. “Recognizing this, Nepal Life has introduced supplementary maternity care and pregnancy complication coverage for the first time in Nepal’s life insurance industry.”
Under the pregnancy complication coverage, if any of the 11 major pregnancy-related complications are confirmed, a lump sum payment of Rs 100,000 will be provided immediately. Additionally, the maternity care supplementary benefit provides Rs 10,000 for certified pregnant women during the insurance term to cover pregnancy-related healthcare expenses.
This advance-payment, participating life insurance plan has a minimum sum insured of Rs 250,000, with maximum coverage determined based on income.
Eligible applicants are women aged 18 to 65 years. Optional supplementary benefits can also be added, including Accidental Death Benefit (ADB), Total Permanent Disability (TPD) coverage, and Premium Waiver Benefit (PWB).
Nepal Life Insurance Company emphasized that this plan represents a historic step in ensuring women’s empowerment, health, and financial independence, providing targeted and meaningful benefits tailored exclusively for women.
