Nationwide voter education program kicks off
The program aims to raise awareness among citizens about the significance of their voting rights and the electoral process.
KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has launched a nationwide voter education program today (Sunday) ahead of the House of Representatives elections, in line with the Election and Voter Education Directives, 2078.
The program aims to raise awareness among citizens about the significance of their voting rights and the electoral process.
Running from today until Falgun 17, the initiative will be implemented across 6,743 wards in all 753 local levels of the country.
Under the program, trained voter education volunteers will visit communities and households to educate voters using sample ballots, explaining the importance of elections and the voting procedure.
The Commission believes that effective voter education will not only boost voter turnout but also help reduce invalid votes.
For smooth implementation, the Election Commission has called on provincial governments, local bodies, political parties, candidates, and the media to extend their support, coordination, and facilitation, said Narayana Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the Commission.
