National Life Insurance completes 3-day AI skill training for 270 employees

KATHMANDU: National Life Insurance Company Limited has successfully conducted a three-day Employee Skill Enhancement Program under the theme “Transitioning to the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, aimed at enhancing the technical capabilities and professional skills of its employees.

The program took place at Hotel Grand Pokhara.

A total of 270 employees participated, including the company’s Chairperson, Chief Executive Officer, management team, department heads, and administrative staff from branch offices across the country as well as the central office.

The program was inaugurated by Chair Premarajya Laxmi Singh, who lit the ceremonial lamp at the event. In her opening remarks, she emphasized that as the insurance industry increasingly relies on technical expertise, this extensive AI-focused training would contribute significantly to the company’s business growth.

During the ceremony, seven employees who were recognized as the Best Employees of 2082 based on performance evaluation – Rohit Kumar Shrestha, Jeevan Barakoti, Nempresad Tharu, Bejon Karki, Yogesh Niraula, Navina Khati, and Rachana Parajuli – were honored with cash awards and certificates.

Chief Executive Officer Suresh Prasad Khatri highlighted in his welcome speech that highly skilled employees are essential for achieving outstanding results. He explained that the AI training was designed to empower employees with technical expertise and facilitate effective use of tools such as data analytics and customer service systems, ensuring faster, simpler, and higher-quality service delivery.

Additionally, CEO Khatri shared that employees received training on asset verification, which is directly linked to insurance operations, to further strengthen their professional capabilities.

Sandesh Bhattarai from Broadway Infosys provided in-depth AI training, illustrating various practical examples and offering comprehensive insights into artificial intelligence applications.

Deputy Director Padam Prasad Sodari of the regulatory body, Nepal Insurance Authority, urged employees to remain vigilant against asset laundering through insurance and emphasized the collective responsibility to prevent terrorist financing in the national interest. He provided training on identifying suspicious financial activities and maintaining professional integrity to curb such practices.

To enhance employees’ mental and physical well-being, Dr. Donjan Lamichhane from Art of Living conducted yoga sessions during the program.

For professional knowledge enhancement, participants took a competency assessment, where Security Singh (Central Office), Bejon Karki, and Siddhartha Maharjan (Kirtipur Branch) secured first, second, and third places, respectively. They were awarded cash incentives and recognition by the CEO.

The program also featured a provincial-level futsal competition, with Lumbini Province, Gandaki Province, and the Central Office teams winning first, second, and third places, respectively. Winners were honored and rewarded for their achievements.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer Smriti Raj Kandel, in her vote of thanks, stated that the company plans to continue organizing such programs regularly to further enhance employees’ skills, competence, and service quality.
